Anonymous asked: This is kind of random, but I was wondering if you lived in a smaller town before you moved to new york and I was also wondering what part of the city you live and how much your rent is and such... or basically just your living situation and how you... adapted I guess? I am wanting to move there and I'd like perspective from someone who isn't from there that moved there that is young and possibly as poor as me. lol.

Well my moving to city story isnt very normal. I came here to go to school in the fall and I didnt get accepted into the dorms so I tried for a while to find a place while still back home. It didnt really work that well. So me being on the interwebz I reached out to a friend who offered his couch for me to stay on until I found a place. I ended up staying there for almost two months while trying to find a place to stay. I checked out a couple places but for some reason they didnt work out. No one got back to me. Im thinking that it is probably because I didnt have a job or anything. In the middle of october I got an email from my school saying they had space in the dorms. So I moved in there as soon as I could.

I currently live in Astoria. I’m subletting a room at an apartment that one of my friends I made at school lives in. Her roommate went away for the summer. The rent is pretty pricey because its the biggest room in the apartment so its $760. Im still in the transition of getting a job and stuff so I dont pay for it all by myself.

Moving to the city is definitly a big scary/exciting step but its worth it. I love being here and I love all the friends I made and people I met. I just wish I was in a better financial standing to actually enjoy myself and not stress about everything.

I hope that helped. Good luck! :D
